Yesterday after I received the media release announcing that Jim or James Moody (his name is used as both) was running for Toledo Mayor I did what I normally do, researched public records. While I am a blogger and not a journalist, I emailed Mr. Moody last night to ask him a few questions concerning the material that I found that I wanted more information on, I was trying to give him the opportunity to respond so that what I wrote would be as accurate as possible. One of the main areas of concern was related to where does Jim Moody live?

The Moody for Mayor campaign committee officially will open its new headquarters and will move into 5166 Monroe Street, Suite 306, Toledo, this Wednesday, January 7th.
Candidate Jim Moody will be making his official announcement for Mayor on January 13th, 2009
“This is an important step on offering Toledoans a serious and successful campaign,” said Moody.

According to Moody, more than 50 volunteers have already signed up to assist with the campaign.

This should make things interesting…Toledo Free Press has the release on this story. It’s stated Take Back Toledo “hired” the Mayor’s former PIO but it’s not clear if he’s being paid or if it’s a volunteer position, at least for now. I’m sure more will come out or will be reported as a part of the organization’s financial reports.

I got home late this morning so I missed most of the first segment of Conklin & Company. I saw the last few moments of District 6 Toledo City Councilwoman Lindsay Webb talking with Lee Conklin about the Ottawa River dredging issue. I plan to watch the re-broadcast tonight so I’ll update with that later. This is not an exact transcript, it is notes typed while the program is in progress.

When I headed over to the Sojourner’s Truth website to read the columns/articles, I wondered what this week’s This Strikes Us would be about. It’s a last look at the reasons why President Bush is a terrible president, giving him credit for a few things, such as the ability to throw a baseball.

The cover of this week’s Toledo Free Press is related to a story about a model, Jada Collins, and her message that inner beauty is what matters most.

Notes taken from this morning’s Conklin & Company on WTVG where Lee Conklin’s guests were Keith Wilkowski for the first segment, then Lori Hauser from COSI for the second segment and for Take Three, Schylar Meadows and Troy Neff. Toledo, OH - In his 2006 campaign for Lucas County Commissioner, Ben Konop twice took an “ethics pledge” in which he stated “I will serve the full duration of the term for the office of which I am elected to.”
Now an online petition at www.onetermis.notlong.com is calling on Konop to honor that pledge to Lucas County voters.

This week’s cover story could be subtitled as “profiles in courage” with the focus being on Kaylee Halko and her family’s living with her diagnosis of progeria and the hope that a new medication could help Kaylee to live much longer than doctor’s first predicted in 2004.

Yes, only God knows if Mike Bell will run for Mayor and since Mark Sobczak doesn’t have a crystal ball he’s not willing to predict if the Mayor will run again or if Mark will be the member of the “formerly known as B team but we are supposed to be unified” side of the Lucas County Democratic Party who has mayoral aspirations.
