From the Columbus Dispatch, More workers accused of politicking on state time. First the usual cautionary statement, it is not clear which campaign the three Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission employees were using government email/computers to “politic” for. What I found interesting was this:
President 2008
More workers accused of politicking on state time
Shribman writes both an Obama and a McCain victory piece…
What’s funny is I’m sure exactly what he has shared, is being written all over newsrooms in America, just as they have obituaries written for famous people, all ready to go minus a few updates when that unlucky soul does die. Read for yourself what will most likely be written if Obama is the winner, focusing on race:
Chris is live blogging the Palin BGSU event
He’s planning on starting covering the event live at 10:00 a.m. Visit him on Swampbubbles here if you want to follow along what he is seeing/hearing.
“Sean the Ironworker” is registered to vote but seriously…
So, the latest person that some are pushing to become the Democratic version of “Joe the Plumber” is…Sean Powless who I am happy to report IS a registered voter.
Toledo media coverage of Palin in Findlay…
Media from Toledo that made the trip down to Findlay this morning, Toledo Free Press, Fox Toledo, WTVG, WTOL which has the full video of Palin’s remarks, which includes the two songs sung by Lee Greenwood.
Palin on SNL
If you didn’t get a chance to watch this last night, the video from Palin’s appearance last night on Saturday Night Live. My daughter found it for me while I was downtown since I missed it:
Coverage of John McCain in Toledo…
Some of the coverage from today, how was John McCain received in the Glass City?
Secret Service says “Kill him” allegation unfounded yet myth continues
Considering the amount of attention the allegation that someone at a McCain/Palin rally yelled “Kill him” in reference to Obama created in the media and the blogosphere, you’d think that reports from Secret Service including interviewing other people who were there, uncovering that there is no evidence that was true would also get media attention, but it’s not. Only a few media outlets are reporting:
The star of the debate…Joe the Plumber
For those of you who did not see the full clip of Holland resident, Joe Wurzelbacher, since he was a topic during the debate? The full video of his discussion with Obama in Holland, known as “Joe the Plumber”:
OMG what a shocker! For president the Blade endorses…
Actually, those of us who are local will not be shocked at all, but apparently other parts of the blogosphere find the discovery that the Blade endorsed Obama to be newsworthy. Here is their endorsement.
The most recent presidential endorsements by the Blade?
John Kerry
In 2000 they endorsed Al Gore as demonstrated by this archive clip:
Latest Ohio Newspaper poll doesn’t add up…
Math is not my strong point but I can do simple addition and there is a problem with the poll numbers when you look at the data, the latest numbers add up to 101% while the headline reads, Obama closing in on McCain’s lead in Ohio with this part standing out to me:
Ohio Newspaper poll shows Northwest Ohio supporting McCain 55 to Obama 34
When America gets a cold, African-Americans get pneumonia
The title is a quote from this article in the Toledo Journal about some of the items that will be discussed at the “State of the Black World Conference” that is scheduled to be held in New Orleans after the election in November. I recommend reading the complete article, what I thought was noteworthy is the acknowledgment that even if Obama wins in November, Dr. Ron Daniels said:
Biden coming to Toledo, well…Maumee…
Fox Toledo reports:
Democratic Vice President candidate Joe Biden will be a large presence around Toledo in the next few days.
Tomorrow, Sept. 15, he speaks in Flat Rock, Michigan, at the local high school. Biden plans to address the issue of manufacturing jobs thorough out the region.
Jack, Marilou & Rose…
Once again this week we have two who use their column space to go after Palin, and one who uses his column space to take the opposing view.
Jack Kelly pens, Obama on the ropes, part of which states:
The McCain campaign is betting Mr. Obama’s ego is so great and his skin so thin that he can’t resist responding to the barbs Ms. Palin delivers with such a sweet smile. So far, they’re winning the bet.
Feminism should not be a closed club requiring an ideological litmus test for membership
Before the pitchforks and torches come out once again, when I read the post title from Weapons of Mass Discussion in my BNN feed, Camille Paglia on Sarah Palin–Biggest Leap Forward for Feminists Since Madonna, I did a bit of a double take. I then headed over to Salon to read the 4 page article in full Fresh blood for the vampire.
Some media raising the question of Biden’s son…
I received this from a regular reader, it’s an editorial from the Providence Journal that raises the issue of the lack of discussion related to Biden’s son Hunter and his lobbyist connections. While I recommend reading the article in full, the last two paragraphs:
The Wisdom of Attacking Sarah Palin…
Almost immediately after the announcement that Palin was going to be the Vice Presidential pick of John McCain, how to attack her was the focus of quite a bit of discussion from those who Obama to win. As this was happening, those in the land of professional politics were saying it’s not smart to attack Palin:
GCJ might not be in Denver but…
You will notice on your side bar to the right that there is a new feature, it was provided to be able to share some of the thoughts on the convention by current Ohio Treasurer Rich Cordray who is also running for Attorney General. The audio blogging is also on his website but I asked for and was given an embed code to put it here on GCJ.
This upcoming election the 7 day challenge…
There’s been a lot of discussion about the whole five day window when people can register to vote and vote absentee, which becomes even more complicated here in Lucas County since they are moving early voting to a different location. It’s actually a seven day window here in Lucas County and other places that are offering voting on the weekend.
We will not be silenced videos online…
The videos for the We will not be silenced done by Gigi Gaston that are said demonstrates fraud in the Democratic Presidential Primary are now online.
Several stories…Seems like the same old dance…and Lucas County unemployment 9.2%
A few stories caught my eye that I wanted to point out. First, did you think that with the welcome mat not being out for lobbyists that the Democratic National Convention would be different this time?
McCain’s NWO visiting…
Fox Toledo has a written story and three videos from Lima, Ohio. It appears that Fox Toledo was the only station that had someone in Lima.
NBC24 reports on the McCain visit to Marion, Ohio.
WTOL has coverage including the story of an Ohio resident who had one of McCain’s POW bracelets.
Jan Scotland: will race matter more than party?
That apppears to be the suggestion in this week’s Toledo Journal which these paragraphs demonstrate:
