From the Columbus Dispatch, More workers accused of politicking on state time. First the usual cautionary statement, it is not clear which campaign the three Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission employees were using government email/computers to “politic” for. What I found interesting was this:

Considering the amount of attention the allegation that someone at a McCain/Palin rally yelled “Kill him” in reference to Obama created in the media and the blogosphere, you’d think that reports from Secret Service including interviewing other people who were there, uncovering that there is no evidence that was true would also get media attention, but it’s not. Only a few media outlets are reporting:

Actually, those of us who are local will not be shocked at all, but apparently other parts of the blogosphere find the discovery that the Blade endorsed Obama to be newsworthy. Here is their endorsement.

Math is not my strong point but I can do simple addition and there is a problem with the poll numbers when you look at the data, the latest numbers add up to 101% while the headline reads, Obama closing in on McCain’s lead in Ohio with this part standing out to me:

At first I thought the Blade didn’t cover this, but now it’s online; I read the pdf of the polling material after hearing about the poll from Dave over on NixGuy. There’s also an additional article on Openers that includes a piece by Toledo’s Tom Troy.

The title is a quote from this article in the Toledo Journal about some of the items that will be discussed at the “State of the Black World Conference” that is scheduled to be held in New Orleans after the election in November. I recommend reading the complete article, what I thought was noteworthy is the acknowledgment that even if Obama wins in November, Dr. Ron Daniels said:

Once again this week we have two who use their column space to go after Palin, and one who uses his column space to take the opposing view.

Before the pitchforks and torches come out once again, when I read the post title from Weapons of Mass Discussion in my BNN feed, Camille Paglia on Sarah Palin–Biggest Leap Forward for Feminists Since Madonna, I did a bit of a double take. I then headed over to Salon to read the 4 page article in full Fresh blood for the vampire.

I received this from a regular reader, it’s an editorial from the Providence Journal that raises the issue of the lack of discussion related to Biden’s son Hunter and his lobbyist connections. While I recommend reading the article in full, the last two paragraphs:

There’s been a lot of discussion about the whole five day window when people can register to vote and vote absentee, which becomes even more complicated here in Lucas County since they are moving early voting to a different location. It’s actually a seven day window here in Lucas County and other places that are offering voting on the weekend.

A few stories caught my eye that I wanted to point out. First, did you think that with the welcome mat not being out for lobbyists that the Democratic National Convention would be different this time?

Fox Toledo has a written story and three videos from Lima, Ohio. It appears that Fox Toledo was the only station that had someone in Lima.
NBC24 reports on the McCain visit to Marion, Ohio.
WTOL has coverage including the story of an Ohio resident who had one of McCain’s POW bracelets.
