Letters have been sent to Medicaid Aged Blind and Disabled consumers to announce Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield will no longer be providing Medicaid ABD managed care services, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Medicaid Managed Care Enrollment Center (MCEC).
I received an email from a regular reader who is very concerned about what is happening right now with Medicaid benefits to Aged, Blind and Disabled (ABD) members of our community. Here is the basic information she provided to me via email and I have some additional information that I’ll share at the end of this post that confirms/provides more details:
More than 4,700 disabled people in Northwest Ohio may need to find new doctors in June.
For some, it will mean seeking out new specialists and enduring long waiting periods for new patient appointments.

Update 5:54 - I received a phone call from the family that the Hashmi’s are being released and that a family friend is on their way to Cleveland to pick them up. No information yet as to what their status will be as far as how long they will be able to remain in the US. More information later.

Tomorrow from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Wesley’s Bar and Grill the Lucas County Young Democrats, in conjunction with EPIC and the Young Republicans will be hosting a Young Professional primary straw poll. So call all your friends and tell them to get down to Wesley’s and show their support for the candidate of their choice.
The event is free to attend. The “Polls” will close at 7:00 p.m. with results announced later in the evening by each political party.

I received this political survey as a request to help someone do some research as a part of their dissertation. I took the survey, it only takes a few moments and I’d appreciate it if you’d take just a few moments of your time to take the survey as well. As part of the request that came with the survey, it was asked that there be no comments allowed on the thread where it’s posted so that there could be no chance anyone’s answers would be swayed/influenced.
I have a friend that I’ve never met but he and I have emailed each other as well as debated things on my national blog and before that on a message board that we both used to visit for several years now. He’s more conservative than I am, and he sent me this email that he gave me permission to post if I wanted to. I posted it on my national blog but since we are getting close to the primary here in Ohio, I thought I’d share what he wrote here as well:

I received a link to this post, White House Budget Leaves Great Lakes on Thin Ice and I really recommend heading over to read the information that is shared there. The Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition has put quite a bit of time into reviewing the proposed budget that was released by the White House and they are very concerned about how the lack of funding will affect us.
