COLUMBUS, Ohio ? Ohio Attorney General Nancy Rogers is implementing a no-nonsense e-mail policy in her office, taking aim at one source of trouble for her predecessor.
E-mails released amid a scandal earlier this year showed a culture of drinking, profanity and sexual harassment under former Attorney General Marc Dann, who resigned in May. Dann himself used his state e-mail to exchange playful messages with a female subordinate.
The policy Rogers posted on Monday says office e-mail should be used only for work matters, with rare exceptions. It also warns that supervisors in the attorney general's office may monitor e-mail and Internet use.
Furthermore, employees are barred from sending text messages using their state-issued cell phones and BlackBerries.
