Toledo will be getting air service to metropolitan New York, beginning June 1, three days a week.
The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority held a new conference Wednesday morning at Toledo Express Airport to announce the new service.
The carrier will be Air Azul, which will fly three times per week between Toledo and Newark, N.J.
The introductory round-trip fares — which must be booked by May 30 — will be $49 one way, plus fees and taxes, with starting fares for $59 one way. Air Azul officials may increase flights from Toledo to other markets should the Newark service prove successful.
Air Azul is a public charter carrier similar to DirectAir, a carrier already serving Toledo with routes to Punta Gorda, Fla., and Myrtle Beach, S.C.
